WCA Participates in the first EVER national social media movement for chiropractic!

We are thrilled to offer Wyoming's chiropractors access to FREE, professionally designed, content to share on social media.  HealthyUSA2020 is the first ever national social media movement for chiropractic.  You can sign up for a FREE account and be sharing great content with your patients on your practice Facebook page immediately.  Spend a few minutes a week scheduling posts to automatically appear periodically on your Facebook page.

There are two parts that make this campaign unique. First, the social media content created for this campaign is specifically designed for today’s most popular social networks such as Facebook and focuses on a consumer oriented message of healthy living or what we think of as the chiropractic lifestyle.

Second, the campaign is powered by AmpLIFEied which allows for every state association and chiropractors in every state to have easy access to a comprehensive social media library with one-click sharing to multiple social networks at once. This concept, content and technology are all first of their kinds.

The campaign launches nationally on 1/6/16 through 12/31/2020 thanks to the leadership, vision and sponsorship of Standard Process.

WY Medicaid covers chiropractic services!

Tomorrow is July 1, and Medicaid coverage for chiropractic services goes into effect.  We just this week got word of what will be covered - adjustments and examinations only right now.  We are working to change this to coverage of all services we provide. The intent of the legislation was to cover all services we provide.

But as of tomorrow, examinations (99201 and 99211 series of codes) and adjustments (98940, 98941, 98942) are covered.  It will be a back-bill situation for right now because we don't have info on how to sign up and how to bill them yet.  Reimbursement will be delayed 2-3 months for right now.

Coverage details:

Each Medicaid patient gets 12 exams per year - this is total, so including all exams done by a MD or a DC.

Each person gets 20 chiropractic adjustments per year.

There is no co-pay for chiropractic visits - $0.

Exam codes will be paid at the same rate as other providers.

We will keep you updated as we are.

Our bill to add chiropractic services to Medicaid, SF 90, passed the third reading of the House on March 3.  The bill only needs the governor's signature now.

I can't tell you how excited I am about this - we've been working on it tirelessly for over 9 months.  Huge thanks to Melanie Kunz, our lobbyist, Dr. Darnell Simpson, our legislative chair, and Dr. Mike Quinn, who spent several entire days at the Capitol.  Huge thanks to those of you who donated to our legislative fund to make this happen.  Huge thanks to all of you who talked to your legislators.  Our grassroots effort made a big difference.  We have some big supporters in the Senate and House.

This may seem like a small step to some, but I know this is a huge step for people on Medicaid in our great state.  We will be able to help a huge number of people who couldn't afford our care last year.  I have patients who will be ecstatic to hear this tomorrow and I'm sure you do too.

The bill goes into effect in July, and we have a lot of work ahead of us to make sure it's done properly and Medicaid patients get good chiropractic coverage.  We will have training available as soon as possible for doctors on how the process works.

This is just one more reason to JOIN or RENEW your WCA membership - our tireless efforts on your patients' behalf.  We have extended the membership deadline to this Friday, March 7 - you have until then to get the $400 price.  Join or renew at wyochiroassociation.com or return the form you received in the mail.

Executive Director Position Available!

The Wyoming Chiropractic Association is a group of Doctors that strives to maintain the rights, privileges, and integrity of the health care profession for which we participate. Established in 1927, the Wyoming Chiropractic Association is a professional organization representing Doctors of Chiropractic in the state of Wyoming. Its purpose is to provide leadership in healthcare and a positive presence for the chiropractic profession and its natural approach to health and wellness. The objectives of the Wyoming Chiropractic Association are to promote legislation favorable to Chiropractic, advance the Science, Art, and Philosophy of Chiropractic, and to establish and promote a closer interest professionally and socially between Chiropractors. As an association we provide continuing education opportunities for the doctors in the state.

The WCA is looking to hire an Executive Director (ED). We are looking for someone who has a love of chiropractic, is self-motivated, and has excellent organizational skills. This is a work from home position with very flexible hours.  There will be some weeks that the ED will only spend a few hours and there will be a few weeks a year (the Spring Conference week, legislative time) that will require 40 hours. There will be some travel required that will be reimbursed. We do have some equipment such as a laptop, printer, office supplies, etc. that the ED would need to keep at their home.  We need someone with a high level of digital literacy including common web tools.

The ED is the first point of contact for the association and will return phone calls and emails promptly.  Yearly the WCA holds a Spring Conference. This year’s conference is May 15-17, 2015. The orchestration of this event is carried out by the ED.

The ED will take minutes at monthly WCA board conference calls, produce and send out a monthly newsletter, and maintain the WCA website.

The ED works closely with the WCA President and Board and will perform other duties as assigned.

Legislative Update

Good news this week!  Our bill to add chiropractic services to Medicaid, SF 90, has passed the first 2 readings on the Senate floor.  The third reading may happen today.  Next is the House of Representatives - it's time to contact your Representatives and tell them how we can save Medicaid costs by taking care of the issues we do at lower cost.  Please contact Melanie, Dr. Simpson, or Dr. Radabaugh for help on talking points.
